Are we really that far off from the top….
I agree we are not as bad as we looked this season. Crippled and dysfunctional, for sure, but we should've been better than 5-12.
Not a popular opinion, but I dont blame it all on Loomis or Gayle. I agree with him that DA shouldnt have been fired mid-season. I can see it both ways, but i dont see where it really gained us anything. I mean we didnt use it to get a head start in our coach search or anything productive. I guess it was fun watching the Rizz get his shot.
Excuses are useless, but its hard to ignore how injuries ruined any chance this team had.
Missing for mosth of the season:, starting QB, both starting WRs, TE, center, and your do everything super weapon. Then ending the season without your star RB. And your backup is a developmemtal rookie who had to split reps with a developmental 2nd year QB. Name an offense that doesnt look like trash in that situation.
Defense disappointed, but id imagine the offensive struggles had some part in that. Eventually even a great defense wears down when theyre always on the field. And I would also its tough to give 100% when in your soul you know its useless. Your not going to win these games. Not to mention we lost adebo and our starting safety missed a ton of games.
I guess my take is that we really didnt even see our real team play ball much this year. Half the time i thought it was a preseason game on. I kept having to look up players numbers during games. Didnt recognize many names at times.
Can that be improved upon? Well, Id think it easily could. But i still think the roster is weak and thin.
