Hypothetical: If Moore said no, then what?

As far as I know, Kafka, Rizzi and Weaver have not withdrawn their names. So if Eisen consistently applied his logic, Kafka, Rizzi and Weaver have not been told they are no longer in consideration because Moore got the job. If Eisen were consistent with his logic, he would conclude that it appears at the moment that Moore, Kafka, Rizzi and Weaver are the final candidates the Saints are considering at the moment.

Sports talking heads are not very good at being consistent in their logic and I think that's because they reverse engineer their opinions and conclusions. They think the Saints have got to be going with Moore. Then they see, well look some coaching candidates have pulled out, so that must mean that they know Moore is the guy. They overlook that their are still 3 other candidates that haven't withdrawn. They dismiss all of the other plausible reasons that McCarthy and Kingsbury chose to bow out.

Listen to the words they are actually saying. They are speculating and presenting their speculations as known facts. They don't know.

Moore might be the pick, but nothing that anyone knows proves one way or another that Moore will be the head coach. It's all speculation. So many people have sold themselves on Moore being the head coach, that if it ends up being someone else, they will be furious and negative as all get out.

This is what I was getting at the other day with you…not every candidate has the motive or need to formally preemptively announce to the world that they’re no longer a candidate. Some candidates want the job so bad and feel it is their only shot to the point where they’ll stay in it until the bitter end, just in case.

Only candidates with skins on the wall and/or a reputation to protect make these formal announcements. These “I am dropping out” announcements aren’t commonplace; only certain types do this.
