Saints expected to hire Kellen Moore as head coach

I can’t remember for sure because it was last year and I barely remember yesterday but didn’t Kubiak inform the 49ers players of his intentions to accept the Saints job the week prior to the Super Bowl? I know the Saints officially announced his hire the day after the Super Bowl and he signed his contract at that point. But I seem to recall reports that he told the players in a team meeting on the Tuesday or Wednesday before the Super Bowl that he was planning on taking the Saints OC job. I’m curious if early next week we will here something similar about Moore.

It was the same dog and pony show. Everyone knew the tea leaves pointed in his direction, and we just had to trust the process and let the game pass by. People were on pins and needles worried that he’d back out, but that is such a rare thing. These first time guys that take these jobs are generally pretty damn pumped up about it where as fans may think they’re on the fence.

These new guys have waited for this moment their entire lives, and this is a dream come true for them. Not to mention the massive pay bump is akin to winning the lottery, even for an O.C. making a couple mill a year.

I am of the belief that, with our interviewing having stopped and there being no announcement as of yet, it is fairly obvious that we have received a verbal commitment from Moore, and plans are already being made behind the scenes on his staff, press conference timing, etc.
