I was probably 8 years old at The Riverwalk when I met John Fourcade, during the time he was the starter. My parents and uncle asked him if I could have an autograph and he was super-nice about it. He went on and chatted with my parents and uncle for a few minutes. He seemed really down to earth.
I was like 11-12 years old, so this is somewhere around 1992-1993, I was cruising the mall in Metarie, walked into Champs Sports and Craig Heyward was there dribbling a basketball near their set-up hoop. After I walked in, he turned around and saw me, then handed me the ball. He told me to try and get by him and score. Being a shy kid, I didn't know what to say or do, so I just did what he said. I tried crossing him over from left to right, but that dude was so big and fast I had no chance. Didn't even come close to getting by him. He was really energetic and goofy, like a big kid.
My aunty lived across the street from Bennie Thompson in New Orleans East. I only met him once when she introduced me to him when he got home from a practice. He just simply waived and said hello. My aunty said he was really nice to them.
