Mike Florio bringing the proper perspective to our organization: “Saints are a solid long-term destination for a new coach“

I think it's probably pretty true. Only Jerry Jones and Mike Brown who are owner/GM's having been in their jobs longer. Gayle and Lauscha aren't managing the day to day on the football like a lot of owners are. So there isn't much pressure coming from above him and I think there are at least 20 teams that would have fired their GMs after some of the stuff that's gone on over the last 5 years.

I'm sure Loomis job is pretty secure, but I don't think it has anything to do with the Tom's Will. He has a long history of the team being successful under his watch and Gayle and Lauscha aren't going to see two mediocre years and one bad year as a reason to fire Loomis the way fans do. And frankly, I think the vast majority of teams give a GM at least two failed HC hires before their job is in dangers. Especially when even that terrible hire only lead to one truly terrible year and that GM has 15 years of the team being a Championship contender on his resume.

Now, if he blows this hire, all bets are off and he could be let go or moved out of the GM role.
