Hypothetical: If Moore said no, then what?

I don't think Kafka was just a rooney rule interview. I believe there was genuine curiosity of capability. He is a leader. He does have a successful history with the Chiefs, but his time with the Giants really are hurting him. He's just having zero positive impact it looks like.
I think you're right. My comment was directed at the thought of Loomis telling us ”__________ was our guy all along." Which would mean my facetious statement was true.

I hope (and expect) to hear that ”after a thorough & exhaustive process, it became apparent that _________ was the best choice." I'd be fine with that.

The side statement there is that I'm not sure the Rooney Rule is working as intended. But I also don't fundamentally understand why you wouldn't interview ALL viable candidates to lead your team? If I'm a team owner and I think you can bring a Lombardi to the team, I truly don't care what color or ethnicity you are....I'm hiring you to DO just that. But I also understand that apparently enough people don't feel that way, that a rule became necessary. But now they just check 2 boxes and shrug shoulders. Another way to game the system...wink, wink, nod, nod. I'd prefer if their team just stayed in purgatory forever. Never win anything, but never get a high end draft choice either. I don't know the answer.

Maybe it's a good thing because those minorities are getting valuable interview insights & experience, so people that think like me CAN hire them when I find them?! And parade that Lombardi as vindication of a series of good decisions, which started with the right HC!
