Rams plan to trade WR Cooper Kupp

His film doesn’t lie he’s not the same guy he once was. I get it, it’s injuries with some age sprinkled in but as someone already mentioned…… this is a smart guy move 🤣.

He still has some ball left in him but not at that money and role. If he stays injury free he could have a good season maybe 2 tops but the end is near for him. Amazing player to watch thru the years but sad thing is receivers are a dime a dozen in the draft. You can easily replace him that way plus the emergence of Puka Nacua made him expendable.

Honestly, this is a good way to deal with an aging vet. It’s an insult to ask him to take a pay cut when the potential is there to earn that same $$ from someone else. If he values being in LA and his teammates, once he sees what the market bares for his services he may be open to redoing his deal.

The chances are low but not non-existent that someone will trade for him and keep the contract but I would guess a trade will be contingent on him redoing his deal with less money and more guarantees for him. It’s a way to let other teams be the barer of that bad news. It lets the Rams save some face because they tried to get him paid but it just didn’t work out.

This is what smart teams do. It’s also the right thing to do for the person and the player because if there is someone out there willing to pay him that much with his injury history and age it allows him to maximize his earning potential while he’s still in the league.
