Kellen Moore expected to be Saints coach
Rizzi has a hard path.
He has to not only sell himself as being the right executive for the job, proving that he has the ability to evaluate talent, manage personalities, assemble a staff, develop his staff, show sound judgment under pressure as it relates to challenges, clock management, 4th down conversions, 2 point conversions, etc.
But then he also has to sell a plan for hiring the right offensive and defensive coordinators with schemes that the Saints brass believe in, without actually having any hard commitments from his preferred candidates that they would sign with us.
Moore has to answer all the same questions, but he has one great advantage in being able to guarantee himself as the offensive orchestrator. We’ve been talking at length about possible DCs that he is likely already recruiting, but who does Rizzi have for offense and defense?
I think Rizzi will end up a head coach in the NFL and he might very well end up a good one, but I’m not actually sure that this situation is in his best interest.
