Netflix axes controversial nine-hour Prince documentary

Prince, looking at his body of work (especially live performances) was a sui generis on the guitar ... but I'll throw this out:

Let's say that Van Halen was getting ready to kick off the tour to support the 1984 album ... but then something befell Eddie Van Halen and he suddenly was going to be unavailable to tour. However, the other three guys in Van Halen, with EVH's blessing, are determined to find a way to go forward with the tour. Hiring on a replacement guitarist is necessary.

Prince was one of the very small group of guitarists who could have credibly stepped in for EVH in a situation like this. It would have been different from EVH's tone, of course, but the requisite technique. hand speed and musicality were all there in Prince's playing. As a bonus, Prince could ALSO have played any of Eddie's keyboard parts. The Van Halen crowds would've gotten their money's worth and then some.

While Prince is a fine guitar player I think above is a bit of an exaggeration, to be fair to Prince, VH type of music was not his thing.....

And the notion that Prince was a better guitar player than Jimi Hendrix (who changed the way folks looked at guitar playing) is just.....ridiculous....

He was a genius though for sure, but I think his guitar prowess is sometimes a bit....overstated....and yes, I know what EC said about him, EC's said a lot of things over the years....
