No they didn't. The coaches always said that they were both #2 and refused to name a backup QB. Haener was active on gameday because he was the most like Carr and could execute a game plan designed for Carr. But, when it was time to start a game and design an offense around a QB, they started Rattler. And after all that, Haener got a start and was terrible. Rattler came in after him and he was much better and continued to improve for the rest of the season. Rattler has a long way to go, but he is much better than Haener.
