So will NOLA have to wait more then 10 years again to host next Super Bowl?

With the Super Bowl now regularly falling on the second Sunday of Feb., Mardi Gras is now the biggest impediment to hosting the game.

The next available Super Bowl will be 2029, but Fat Tuesday that year is Feb. 13. That would mean Super Sunday is also Bacchus Sunday that year, if the NFL keeps to its current schedule. No way we can swing that.

Mardi Gras 2030 and 2031 are in March (no conflicts) and Feb. 25 (may have to get Krewe de Vieux to go a week early).

Nashville is building a new stadium for the Titans, and it will have a roof, so I'm sure the NFL with want it there one of those upcoming dates. Award them the 2029 game and let's see if NOLA can host Super Bowl LXIV or LXV.

Man if we could get it back in 5 years that would be extraordinary, but I'm extremely skeptical. Too many other markets have more money, plain and simple. Continuing to put forward competitive bids is going to be tough. Same problem with the college football playoffs.

There's near unanimous agreement that Nola is one of the best (if not the best) host sites, but we have shallow pockets.
