Sure, but is Carr a 2nd round pick and "I know what I've put on film" money to any team? His ceiling hasn't really changed in his entire career. What GM and coach is going to say "Derek Carr is our missing piece and we should give up valuable draft picks for him."? I think Pittsburgh will re-sign Fields and I don't see Aaron Glenn bringing in a guy like Carr. Who else? The Giants might do something with the HC seat on fire, but even still it won't be for a second. Then you combine that with a no trade clause and it all falls apart. Trading Carr is a pipe dream.

No I don't think he is close to worth a 2nd or close to the player he thinks he is. I also don't think he's going to waive his no trade and would prefer to force a release if he's not going to be the starter. And even if he did waive the no trade for a certain team, he's still not likely to adjust his salary to help us and we would likely at best net a 7th or lower which isn't worth much. The end of his time with the Raiders shows he is willing to be petty and i honestly don't blame him for that.

But, at the same point, Carr may need to adjust his salary demands for the medium to long term. This is really practically speaking the last year of his deal in New Orleans. No way we pay him his contract the year after this so he will either get cut and need a new deal elsewhere or need a new deal with us. I see no way we keep paying him what he was getting and no way anyone pays him that after getting cut. So, he may see some value in a trade to a team he likes or getting cut this year so that he can sign a new 3 year deal this year. He's probably not getting another 3 year deal after this year. So this may be his last year for any mid-term security. After this year it's likely just lower priced one year veteran deals. So maybe he would swallow his ego for some mid-term security?

But, I do think it's highly unlikely Carr would agree to a deal and I do think the one team it would even be possible with is NY who might want some QB stability and I think they even have some cap space even after cutting Rodgers. Obviously there was some mutual interest between the Jets and Carr when he came here. Not sure if the Jets still feel the same or how much interest they did have. Obviously they were not willing to pay him what we did. And like you said, maybe the Giants are a possibility. But outside of that I don't see much interest. Although there is at least one article saying that Carr would garner interest from several teams, but that is likely only if he gets cut.

So, yeah, trading Carr for anything is likely a pipe dream. But, I do think if we cut him there will be interest.
