Opinions and feelings now that Moore is the head coach.
I do not have a strong opinion on what type of head coach Moore will be. I hope he will be successful and wish him luck. I was intrigued by Anthony Weaver and wanted to know more about Mike Kafka. But I had no interest in McCarthy, Brady or Kingsbury.
I am interested in hearing what Moore and Loomis have to say at the press conference tomorrow. The MVP of the Eagles' Super Bowl win was Howie Roseman. Unless we finally recognize that a major rebuild is in order, it doesn't matter who the head coach is. We are a team lacking star talent, depth and a likely future quarterback and are mired in salary-cap hell. I heard Luke Johnson's interview this morning on Sirius NFL. He said that based on public pronouncements our front office seems to believe we are more talented than we are but wondered whether the lack of interest shown by the top candidates in the Saints head-coach job might be a wake-up call for the organization.
Again, we will be given tomorrow hints of what the immediate future looks like.
Regarding Kellen Moore, he seems an extremely bright and accomplished young man. But the jump from offensive coordinator to head coach is huge and calls for a different skill-set. In appearance and perhaps temperament, he seems to lack the command of an NFL head coach, but so did Tom Landry, Bill Walsh, Blanton Collier and Bud Grant. Not every successful head coach needs to have the persona of Bill Belichick or Bill Parcells.
