You already know he's not going to say that either is the starter since he wouldn't say it about Carr. It was absolutely clear from the answers he gave about Carr that who will be the starting QB is not settled. It may well end up being Carr, and likely will end up being Carr given the cap implications. But it's also possible that it's Rattler or someone not even on the roster right now.
Asking if Rattler or Haener was the start was just going to get an answer like "I like what I saw of those young guys. And I'm excited to go through the process with them" or "I haven't really had an opportunity to look at their film, but they are both good young QBs and I'm excited to go through the process with them."
