So has this always happened and we never heard about it and this is this just the new click bait trend? Or is this really an uptick in actual crashes?

Now mass shootings happen once a week and we rarely hear about it. The latest click bait is the asteroid with a 1 and 50 chance to hit earth in 7 years gets 20 articles a day.

For context, there were five mid-air collisions in private aviation in 2022, and four in 2021 (the 2023 data is still preliminary). In 2018, there were 12. For overall crashes in private aviation that aren't collisions, the number is much higher.
