Mickey Loomis’ GM duties

Didn't they have a Fire Ireland billboard in Miami? Speaks volumes. Every draft of his since 2017 has been underwhelming. Our team shot up after that draft but has been on a skid every since. So if he is our football guy we are pretty much done for .
As assistant GM, Ireland doesn't really have the power to actually draft or sign players, just make recommendations. By most accounts in the media and on this board, Loomis has largely given the HC control over who has been selected, especially in the first couple of rounds. From what I understand scouts and personnel people have been given more influence over the later picks.

Some of our 3rd round and later picks have been AK, Anzalone, Hendrickson, CJGJ, Kaden Ellis, Zack Baun, Paulson Adebo, Jordan Howden, Kendre Miller and Spencer Rattler. Where we've really suffered is in picks like Davenport, Payton Turner, Trevor Penning and Isaiah Foskey, some of which we traded up to get. There are so many late picks contributing over that same time for various teams that we've let leave than early rounders that have contributed. If anything I think it shows that maybe shouldn't defer to coaches as much as we do.
