Saints could get to $14.61 million under the cap without restructuring Derek Carr, after Saints salary cap potentially increases by $5M

True, but that's also Loomis kicking the salary cap impact down the road like he usually does. Most of the people wanting to cut Carr are also very much against Loomis continuing to do business this way.

They want it to be daytime and nighttime at the same time.

I'm fine with Loomis doing business the way he did it when we had Brees, but I'm less fine with him doing it once Brees and Payton left. Especially doing it to pay a mediocre QB $40 million per year (the Carr contract was fine the first two years but it's way too high for the last two years). In addition, he changed the way he did things recently by getting significantly more aggressive with the void years and giving contracts with void years to older players that are in decline. That was mostly done to be able to sign Carr.

But, if he wants to go back to what he did in the Brees/Payton days after we get a franchise QB, I'm fine doing that to keep a contending team together, but it should end when that franchise QB retires so you can reset the cap and make another run with a franchise QB.
