Right he doesn't have enough bend to be a hand in the dirt edge rusher. He has been another guy in a long line of square peg round hole types for this team. In a 3-4 as a stand up rusher he could finally utilize his speed..hopefully.
I think this too. He's a speed to power guy that was never going to cut it as a 4-3 DE. He lacks the big initial explosion to win and is as stiff as a board.
I've listened to a couple media guys talk about how he was used in the Vyper role in Notre Dames defense. Basically a stand up rushing linebacker so he probably stands to benefit more than anyone else from Staley's hire.
