Cap Implications of Keeping and Cutting Derek Carr

Some on hear thinks it a Carr v Rattler thing it’s not. It’s about how to get back to a competitive level quicker. If Carr isn’t the future as most say and plan on cutting him in 26 why wait. Then I heard restructure Carr and sign Fields. That is never going to happen. Fields wouldn’t come here with Carr on the roster he wants a chance to start. You have a better shot at him with Carr gone. If they cut Carr they will bring someone in to compete with Rattler. Fields may see that as a person he could beat out as a starter and decide to come here. Then you let Rattler and whatever vet that comes in battle for QB1, and hopefully it will make them both better. Carr will be a 40 mil dollar man in 25 and if on the roster he will be the starter coming into the season because they aren’t going to pay him just to sit. Now keeping the job during the season could change. I just don’t want to see what we saw in 23. He was obviously playing hurt, but didn’t want to come off the field. All along while DA force feed him on us while playing hurt and saying he was the best option.
