You want to re-sign Jameis? OK here’s your first round pick. [2022 thread bumped]

I'm tired of the way things have gone though and there is a fair point to it. It's honestly gotten ridiculous. We're practically to the point of asking "But how big is his thumb?!" or "Is he flexible enough to trim his own toe nails!?".

I miss the days when the focus was on hard nose football players who were absolutely determined to dominate the opposition and also had great natural instincts. Statistically speaking, those kinds of players feel as if they have a much higher success rate then the physical freaks who are without strong instincts or physical freaks who are without determination to dominate.

I think it’s about balance. The scouting process is a lot more scientific than most realize. Scientific as in the small attributes and measurements tell probability stories. You can’t just rely on the eye test.

Some players will always slip through the cracks and turn out good, and some players will always bust; the objective is to give yourself the best probability odds of that not occurring, and putting the small stuff under a microscope helps with that, MOST of the time, but not always.
