We are essentially paying a player for cap space that won't be here. It's such a wild tactic to process. Just seems better off to pay him off to bring base salary to vet minimum and cut him. Why pay someone $30 million to not be here in 2026?

Can you explain how that works for us? I see that Jameis is on the cap this year, but I was under the impression you could only split the money between 2 years, the current and the following. I don't understand the mechanism that allows for us to have any of his cap space in 2028 whether he finishes out his contract or not.
