Underhill thinks Carr will be Saints starter [mod edit: Moore-Carr meeting went well; Saints plan is to keep Carr in 2025 & figure out contract]

I don't even understand this idea of a "soft reset". Mickey wants to be just good enough to miss out on a potential franchise changing draft pick???

What's the logic there??

Sure it's never a guarantee you'll find your franchise guy but you never will if you don't try. And another .500 give or take season doesn't help anything.
Absolutely do NOT try to win this season. Every win moves you further from your next chance to win anything meaningful.

You need a qb.

Quickest way to get one is to lose and get the no. 1 pick or as close as you can.

0 wins > 5

I know this is the Saints’ first foray into this deep sub-500 realm in quite some time, but teams just don’t operate like this the way people here seem to believe.

No one is going into a year intending to pick early in round 1 or go out of their way to make moves to assure it. It’s just not a thing.

It happens on accident and maybe towards the end of the year you start making efforts, but not in the off-season.

This whole “get massive cap space” + intentionally go after a high draft pick as a path to guaranteed riches thing is nonsense that teams internally just don’t operate by.

And many of the VERY few teams that have gone down this misguided path and operated that way have seen that plan backfire and turn into a 10+ year project.
