Patriots did it, Reid did it with the Eagles while having McNabb. Payton did it while having Brees. Dennis Allen did it while having Carr. Packers did it while having Rodgers.

It has a high probability of working out. Essentially, you're saying we want our backup on a cheap rookie deal to allow more salary cap for starters and free agency. You're also hoping to hit two birds with 1 stone, nailing a potential starter that you can trade away for great draft capitol.
