Jets sign QB Justin Fields to a 2year/$40 million deal

These are now "normal" QB prices... That's why many of keep pounding the table for us to take QBs in the draft fairly highly every year until we find the right one... In some cases even if it means we pass on perceived other "team needs"... In the modern NFL there isn't very much better than having the right QB on a rookie deal.... That alone will literally resurrect and transform a franchise faster than just about anything (and make you a sustainable contender).

It is interesting that Fields slotted into the $20 million AAV bracket. Geno Smith at $25 million was the only guy in that spot and now will likely get $40 to $45 million. The other QBs were either $30 million and above or below $10 million. There isn't much of a middle class for NFL QBs which is how Carr ends up making so much.

Fields is not the only guy in the $20 million AAV range. I wonder if that will be a trend or if he will be the anomaly?
