Underhill: Kellen Moore said he took this job with the idea that Derek Carr would be his QB

Man I will continue to say that I just don’t see what others see in the guy. His tape to me is solid. He has lapses just like most other QBs in his tier, but for the most part, he’s efficient, can make all the throws, and doesn’t turn the ball over.

I haven’t had that “Confident every time he drops back” feeling since Drew. Obviously not to Drew’s level of course, but I actually feel good when I see our QB drop back now for the first time in a long time.

Carr indeed on tape is a solid QB. Coach types clearly see that.

I think he’s just had a very strange, anomaly career where he’s played on a bunch of really bad football teams for bad coaches.

You can’t tell me that if this man was Sean Payton’s quarterback, his reputation wouldn’t be completely different than it is today or that he wouldn’t have multiple playoff appearances and wins. Ain’t no way.
He is an average to slightly above average QB IMO. He is not a bad QB, but it appears that he needs a very good cast around him for any chance to succeed. He does not appear to make a team better. When he has a clean pocket, I think he is pretty good. He seems to struggle in the red zone fairly consistently which leads to questions about his ability when the pressure is on. Unfortunately 12 years without a playoff win cannot always be everyone else's fault.
