Underhill: Kellen Moore said he took this job with the idea that Derek Carr would be his QB

I believe there is a misconception. Because the word that most people don't believe they'll make the playoffs with Carr...

If you told people that you had 100% affirmation that they make the playoffs. They would be excited, but you can only sell a bait and switch for so many years till people rightfully want wholesale change. We are possibly going on our 5th season without a playoff berth.

What objective indication that they are closer to a playoff berth now vs. 4 years ago when Brees retired with a more talented team. You can only handoff the blame on injuries for so long.

It's results based business and the results have been bad with team that doesn't have a lot of young blue chip ascending talent.

They just changed the entire coaching staff including hiring a new HC and changing the scheme on both sides of the ball. It's going to take time to see results.

That in and of itself I would count as wholesale changes. And we don't even know yet what personnel changes will be made. All we know is that Carr is the QB for 2025. I wanted him gone and I understand that people are frustrated that they did not make that change, but it doesn't mean that wholesale changes aren't being made or that Carr will be the QB for any time past this year. And if Moore thinks he can coax a winning season out of Carr with the other changes he is going to make, it's his job and his decision to make. He may well be right. But that doesn't mean that this won't be a totally different team by the time the 2026 season starts. Even Sean Payton kept the Vet starting QB that nobody like and nobody thought they could win with for a year before cutting him. Seemed to work out well for them. I don't know if it will work well here, but I also don't know that it won't.
