Eagles trade CJ Gardner Johnson to the Texans
Wow, even the GM that everyone bows down to kiss his feet got tired of CJGJ and shipped him out.
Even if your Dennis-Allen 'esque projection of their reason is true - please back up your assertion from any of the Eagles many beat writers or fan-pundits.
Maybe it's not CJ's attitude they don't like - in his two seasons they went to 2 Super Bowls, won one of them, and CJ had 12 interceptions in those two seasons. What they may not want is to go through another future overpay-me demand, which is a CJ-m.o. that has paid off bigly for the guy. Like someone said, he is a mercenary, but he's been getting signed by excellent teams. He may not be getting paid a ton, but he sure plays alot on big post-season stages.
Consider though - Howie had signed him to a lower-paying, short-term deal. So he's not burdened by eating $5M in dead money to take a shot at reviving the career of a former 15th-overall pick. As well as upgrading a 6th round pick in 2026 to a 5th-rounder. They expect to lose Becton, also a guard, and who's another cheap short-term contract.
It's business szn.
The Eagles have Sydney Brown and Lewis Cine as depth that could take CJ's role, a revolving-door they have gotten great results from.
Ask yourself - would the Saints defense have been better off the past 3 years with CJ on it? Mickey and Dennis chose to make an example out of CJ. Who won that one?
My opinion is that the Dennis Allen HC era basically ended before game 1, when they shipped out the spirit animal.
