Still feels odd to me that we have opened up so much cap space

The impass w/ Carr, but the decision to hold on to tells me a # of things. Regardless of if they like/love Rattler they recognize that where he's at in his development wouldn't allow them to meet their goals. However, the obvious lack of satisfaction w/ his availability last year and mention of an incomplete grade on Carr means that some of the sheen/gloss has worn off.

There's a slight change of tune w/ regards to him. Still feel like they can win w/ him, but the "he's the guy were going to build around for future success" talk seems to have subsided.

Such is the reason why I can't rule out the Saints moving up or selecting a QB at some point this draft. If they're going to end the relationship at some point they're going to have to feel better than they do currently about the QB room. Either that's going to happen w/ Rattler's development, or they'll need to invest somethign more than a 4th or 5th rounder into the position.

Personally I think it would be more wise to allow Rattler those #2 snaps during Camp and no extra battle w/ Haener being 3rd team QB. Meanwhile you continue to try to build up the team around them so that it can support whomever your young QB ends up being. Trading up for a Ward or even taking Shadeur would immediately stunt Rattlers ability to grow. If you love him as much as we've been hearing...you want to see him grow.

He needs snaps and a vision. That vision and those snaps would get muddy w/ the addition of a new QB this year.
