No it doesn’t add time. His contract was designed from the start for a restructure in years 2 and 3 if the Saints decided to. It had 4 years with salary and 3 void years from day 1.
I realized I’d made a mistake with that comment - but I wanted to add again, the contract as it was originally written put Carr at an advantage because the team was NEVER going to pay out that contact as written.
So Carr, under the original contract, could stand firm, get paid and then get cut and become a free agent again and pick where he wants to go.
Now his financials are more palatable and they likely won’t be cutting him prior to this season.
So the restructure doesn’t add time as written but it does extend his time here - and again, I can’t imagine he’s thrilled about coming back to a team that’s fan base and city overall do not want him here.
