I would think about it if Purdy had followed up his 2023 season with similar play in 2024. But his stats fell off big time, in part due to a lack of weapons.
Purdy's counting stats fell off a good bit in 2024, but his efficiency stats (Yds/Att, Passing Rate, QBR, etc.) only dropped from "historic" to "rock solid".
Josh Allen just signed for $55M/yr. Allen and Purdy are actually closely comparable statistically, Purdy being the 2023 QBR leader and Allen leading in 2024. Allen was more pick-prone than Purdy up until last season when he got it under control. Allen is a (much) better runner than Purdy, but Purdy has added a little running threat to his game (323 yds, 5 TDs in '24).
Plus: Purdy is 25 years old on opening day. Allen will be 29.
The $55 million for Purdy is not as crazy as some might think. Don't forget, Jordan Love is also at $55M/yr right now ... and it's a lot easier to argue that Purdy is better than Love.
