I was living in Alabama on the night of the plane crash. But I was aware that evening that the Skynyrd charter was on the way to LSU for a concert. I was even waiting to hear from some friends I knew who would be going. So the shock I felt from the news of the crash was more than just memorable. In fact many of the folks I knew [in Alabama] were practically in mourning. Having considered “Sweet Home Alabama” their state anthem, they all felt like they had lost members of their family. It was a very sad time for a lot of people.
