Final thoughts on Favre
Len Pasquarelli wrote a column on espn.com the other day, and it fully describes how I feel about Brett Favre. It basically says that since he lost the Super Bowl against the Broncos in 1997 he has had a bunch of average years. For 11 years he was on the decline, and he still seemed to get all this media love. Why? Because he is fan friendly? Big deal, there are a bunch of football players that were and are fan friendly. I just don't understand all the love he gets. He really stayed in the game much longer than he should have. The man has many records, and I credit that to the fact that he has played so long. Any qb who starts for 17 years and has average season stats for over 11 of them will break records.
Essentially, I think Brett Favre played too long, and got a free pass from the media, and fans alike because he won a Super Bowl 12 years ago, and was average the rest of the way. Not to mention, at one time he was addicted to pain killers as well.
I just don't get it.
