Brandin Cooks on returning to the Saints, his thoughts on Saints WRs & talking to Derek Carr

Never said that, but now that you’ve brought it up, he did play his entire career with bad defenses there, so that didn’t help. The best defense Oakland had while he was there was ranked 20th, the year they went to the playoffs and he finished third in MVP voting. Most of the time, they were near the bottom/bottom third.

Surely you can’t believe that if Carr had better defenses or a strong coach like a Sean Payton, his fate would be the same.

Your team matters. You cannot deny that.

The thing with the Raiders is every good offense or average offense in need of a spark have used the Raiders as a get right game. Players play with confidence when playing that team. The Raiders have gotten used to getting burned and they struggle against pocket QBs. They don't struggle against Lamar and athletic QBs though. Some franchises can only win one way. For the Raiders they had their best years as a defensive-oriented team.
