Having concerns is perfectly fine. In fact, most here are well aware of the issues in the pharmaceutical space.

That said, there are definitely a lot of unreliable and outright false information out there about the value to society of important medical advances over the years. And there's no magic bullet that works for every single person.

What should be happening is individuals should consult with their doctors (hopefully a good one, they aren't all created equal) and make informed decisions about their own health.

I have a brother in law living in Taiwan and was talking to me about how different healthcare is there compared to here. One of the biggest differences is there, the focus is much more geared towards preventative care than waiting to get sick to see a doctor. They do checkups several times a year and he said it's so much more efficient and they do more testing for diseases and conditions than we do here.

We definitely have a health care problem in the US and need a greater effort in preventative care imo.
Dental insurance in many instances does not even fully cover semi-annual checkups, leading those in tight financial straits to skip checkups and cleanings until they have an abscess and then care become emergent, which is likely covered but costs much more than semi-annual cleanings.

**** on the US healthcare system, we know what the goal is...
