Saints' Dannell Ellerbe, Terron Armstead not present on practice field for second consecutive day | NOLA.com

Ellerbe, a seventh-year pro, has continued to rehabilitate at the team's training facility.

The Saints were also without running back Mark Ingram, left tackle Terron Armstead (knee), defensive end Paul Kruger (back), safety Erik Harris (knee) and cornerback Delvin Breaux (fibula).

Armstead hasn't practiced since sustaining the injury in Week 2, while Kruger suffered the back injury in Week 4.

Breaux's absense is expected and the Saints must make a decision on Harris, who underwent surgery Tuesday to repair an torn ACL suffered during Monday's practice.

It is unclear why Ingram was not present. The Saints starting running back was not listed on Wednesday's injury report.

The Saints will release the full injury report with practice designations later Thursday afternoon.

I'm almost scared to express my thoughts regarding Lasco...

I really wish someone would ask Payton if he thinks Ellerbe is a malingerer. The dude has to be able to play through some discomfort...I mean, look at him. He's a physical specimen. Is a quad injury something you can re-injure or aggravate seriously unless you rehab it 100% or can you play with it at 85% healed and not damage it further? If it's the latter, he needs to get on the field. Thank God for Robertson. Where would this defense be without him right now?

So far we know this

We are going to play more 3 safety sets.
Josh Hill is returning so the 3 TE sets should return
The Oline will continue to Gel
Edebali is in line for increased snaps
Ellerbe is likely out 1 more week
Our depth at S will be tested now because of A: Harris being injured and B: Because we'll be using them more
Tyeler Davison is back fully healthy
Anthony will see snaps in the kicking game per Payton(Awareness is the problem)
Breaux, Armstead are likely to be back week 7 as Payton has said he expects a few injured players back BEFORE the mid point of the season.
Wille Snead should have a bigger game/ in fact all the WRs should have big games via wanting to take advantage of the Panthers young CB's and stagnant passrush.

Anything else anyone want to add?

Apparently the team recognizes the talent Ellerbe is and also how debilitating a quad injury can be. He's also not expensive having taken a paycut to even stay with the team this season. Absolutely no reason to rush/cut him.

He changes the D at LB when he's on the field..keyword is when but I'd rather have him late into the season(especially if we think we can make a run) than rush him back early only to see him re-injure it and be out for the year or even more time.

A Week 10 Ellerbe is still more valuable than an IR Ellerbe.

Not to mention having Robertson/Stupar makes the decision to continue to allow him to sit that much easier...vs our LB corps last year when the lack of depth may have caused us to force him back at less than 100%.

He's gonna change the defense for like 3 games and then he's gonna get hurt again. Get him out of here.

Why? It costs us money to cut him and he's making pennies since restructuring to incentive based pay. You don't cut game changing players because they're injured when you knew that injuries were a huge issue with him when we signed him, hence the restructuring of his deal to incentivize his getting on the field as much as possible.

He's good enough to wait for with the signings of Robertson and Stupar and Mauti from last year playing well in his place.

On top of what Inside said, Who on the street can the Saints pick up to make a difference? Cut Ellerbe and the line forms to the left of teams waiting to pick him up even with injury issues.
