With 10 coaches being replaced last year and a total of 5 (Atlanta, Arizona, Miami, Oakland and Pittsburgh) and with the strong possibility that Coughlin gets the axe if they don't go deep in the playoffs that could be 16 of 32 teams that have replaced their head coach in the last two years. That has to be some sort of record?

I just heard on the radio that since the 70's they average seven new head coach turnovers a year.

I think more accountability needs to be places on the GM. He picks the players, the coach only coaches them.

I think some of these guys should be given a longer time frame to get their players and systems in---Art Shell? One season? I know they sucked but that's a raw deal. He deserved one more shot. The only firing I think is totally justified is Jim Mora----what a freakin idiot. (And maybe Denny Green....)

Reportedly Davis even called about a dozen players to ask them what he should do. They all wanted him gone. They said the game had passed him by. They didn't even start practicing 3rd downs until late in the year. He just couldn't adjust to the new NFL, the young players and it showed on and off the field. Al Davis went as far to say that it was the single biggest mistake he had made since the has owned the Raiders (re-hiring Shell). Thats saying a lot. This is the same guy that let Gruden go to Tampa and then lost to him and Tampa a year later. The same guy that hired Bill Callahan to replace him. The same guy that gave up a butt load for Randy Moss.
