Optical eye scans reminds me of that Wesley Snipes movie where he gouged some guy's eye out to use as the retinal scan for entry into some locked area. And then there's that Tom Cruise movie where he had his eye's transplanted so that he wouldn't be identified by the public monitoring system in Minority Report.

Precrime always seemed delightfully close to thought crime to me. I wonder how long before we have technology installed in public places like the Greco system in Ocean's 13 to measure body temp, pupil dialation and whatnot to monitor thought crime. I hope it's soon.

Meantime, biometrics is good stuff.

Any technology can be misused. Criminals will be criminals, and governments will be governments. If we let the potential for nefarious application of technology turn us against the technology itself, where would we be?
