Here's an old NFC West rivalry matchup from Oct. 22, 1989. After winning the first game of the 1989 season, the Saints drop their next four. At 2-4 by this point, the Saints visit Anaheim to take on the 5-1 Los Angeles Rams.

The 1989 Rams made it all the way to the conference championship. But this would be the low mark on the Rams' season, as they allowed more points in this game than any other during the year.

Great stuff! The Rams seemed to have been tailor-made for us at the time. Despite Everett and their stable of receivers (including our current WR coach, Henry Ellard) they were a run-first team. Their O-line did better run-blocking than pass protection, so Swilling and Jackson always seemed to have multiple sacks on the Rams. And if memory serves, we owned 'em in Anaheim. Saints won every game there between 1987 and 1994.
