2-2 start, what are your thoughts? (1 Viewer)

These last two losses will absolutely haunt us. Those were two VERY WINNABLE games but we are a dumb team that makes dumb mistakes (coaching and playing). We are gonna be on the bubble at the end of the season and these two losses in particular are going to be the deathknell. You can see it coming just like we can see the L coming on defense with the game on the line, having the lead, and under 2 minutes of game left.

This team has to be Top 3 all time in frustration, underperforming, probability-busting plays, injuries, and weird officiating. I am convinced now more than ever, that this is a cursed loser franchise. And I'll be watching this weekend because I am a glutton for punishment.
And both were against NFC teams, including a division rival. We always lose those tiebreakers for the playoffs.

Cut down on the costly mistakes.

I'm feeling very confident in this team. They blew the doors off two teams when healthy and are really a few boneheaded/fluke plays away from being 4-0 despite some injuries at critical positions. I think we're a 10+ win team facing a pretty tough opening schedule. If we can somehow make it to the postseason healthy, I'm not afraid of anyone in the NFC.

Just have to figure out how to protect a lead with 1 minute left in the game...

I'd put serious money on this team beating KC this week. They'll have an extra day of rest and can hopefully get some key players back. Prime Time vs Super Bowl Champs? I think this team wants to make a statement.

WhoDat?!?

Thoughts:
1. When everyone is healthy we look great and can compete with anyone.
2. Our depth on offense is terrible. Especially OL. Also, we have no one to replace Hill at all so we lose 25% of our offense when he is not out.
3. We lack real star players at key positions that scare other teams. Or become Go-Tos at key moments. Ak41 is a star but RB doesn't seem to have the impact it used to in the final 2 min.
4. Repeated boneheaded errors cost us 2 games. Reeks of poor coaching.
5. We have no defensive weapon to help close out games.

I think we are starting 2-3 on the first third of the season. After that, the schedule gets better, and if we learned for the mistakes that cost us 2 games, we can win the division.

We are better than Atlanta, and we can manage Tampa.

I really don't understand the hate some posters have on Allen right now. The problem has been mistakes, not coaching.
I can’t get my head around this take and the loyalty some of our fans have towards DA at this point. He’s head coach of this team and is therefore responsible for all of it. We’re in year 3 now, the same ridiculous mistakes are happening and the same close games are being lost in the same fashion.

It’s gone on for more than long enough now to be a reflection on him as a HC. He is what his record says he is, not very good. We’re well on our way to 8 or 9 wins, just missing out on the playoffs again and fans telling themselves we’ll get there next year because we were just a few stupid mistakes and close losses away. If/when that happens it’s time to close the book on this era of mediocrity and start again with a new HC/QB pairing. I really hope to be proven wrong by DA.

The Cubs showed me early that this would be a lost season. I told a friend that it's a long wait until football season.

It's going to be a long wait for baseball season.

We're attached to a lot of the people in this organization. Unfortunately, I don't think that they're going to win anything. There's a lot of good players who will never know what it feels like to win.

Fix the cap. Draft and develop players who can win. We'll get attached to them too.

The division is still bad/inconsistent enough, I think, to still have everything come down to the final week. Two teams teetering on either 8-9 or 9-8 seasons and need to win the final week to overcome an array of confusing tiebreakers.

The final game is at Tampa, btw.
Tampa seems to be pretty consistent and solid. They are going to likely win 10 or 11 games. Can you legitimately see 10 or 11 wins on our schedule? I can maybe see that if they stop having mental lapses and get healthy - but it’s going to be a tough slog to catch the Bucs.

I’ve learned nothing new about this team after 4 weeks. We are a .500 team, as we have been for a couple of years now.
The team has limited depth, aging key players, and is void of stars. Loomis and Allen both contributed to where we are. We will keep chopping wood for another year.

Well I was ready to eat crow after the whooping we put on Dallas but looks like they will be fighting us for a top 5 pick...

Agree almost word-for-word.
I'd use "jinxed" instead of "cursed".
About the only difference, but the sentiment is right on.

Defense has given up 10, 19. 15, and 12 points and the offense is scoring pints so this is definitely a better team than last season.

I said many times that the first 6 would be a meat grinder and it has been.

If this team can get somewhat healthy they'll make some noise the second half of the season.

Not all 2-2 records are created equal. I am satisfied looking at this team as they are playing right now. The loss at ATL stings, but the team has shown in my eyes that they are indeed a competitive team this year, and that they can play competitive football against anyone. They have shown more than enough to believe they have a fighting chance against the Chiefs next week.
What are your thoughts?
AK's post game interview says it all, as well as anyone could.

My take: when fully healthy, Saints are good
But with even 2 starters out, then are mediocre

If Saints could do something positive without a negative, that would be great. If it weren't for dumb defensive screw ups with the lead and 2 minutes or less remaining, we might be 4-0 but ...
