I know, it's academic because we'll be playing in the Super Bowl and drafting 32nd. But if we don't make it to the Super Bowl, we'll be picking 25th in the first round, apparently edging out the Eagles and Jets based on the strength of competition tiebreaker used.

Incidentally, Atlanta has the 10th pick in the first round and Carolina the 14th with teams at 8-8 picking from 13th to 20th.

Happy New Year!

What's the lowest the Saints ever picked in the draft? I'm meaning our own pick not one we got in a trade. I would think 25th would be one of the lowest. I don't remember the exact pick it was when we took Deuce but I know it was after our 2000 playoff season and it was in the 20's.

^ that was out of 31

Craig Heyward was a later pick and closer to the bottom

When drafting 25th or higher, a team has to truly pick the best player still on the board. There will still be good players on the board, though not necessarily at positions of need for us. But we do have an extra 3 (hopefully) and extra 4 to move up if we want to do so.
