1. Safety. Although Chris Harris came over from Chicago and established himself at strong safety, the free safety spot was manned by several players, none of whom are worth starting in 2008. The team signed Cardinals castoff Terrence Holt, who figures to be only a short-term solution. If Miami's Kenny Phillips is still around at No. 13, Carolina should jump at the chance to draft him. Phillips has strong coverage skills and is the next in line of star Hurricane safeties. If the Panthers wait until the second round to fill this need, Alabama's Simeon Castille is an option.
