2017 NFL Draft UDFA's [MERGED] PROSPECTS THREAD (1 Viewer)

I'm waiting to see what happens with Speedy Noil. Would love to get him in here to compete with Tommylee Lewis.

Wow! Just saw that we picked up EDGE Sae Tautu fr BYU. That man is a pretty well versed pass rusher. Over the last 2 years, Tautu was BYU's pass rush specialist coming off the bench. This is a pretty sweet get for us. They lined him up as a pass rusher from DE, OLB, & ILB.

In terms of Payton's "pressure player" comments, Tautu is exactly that kind of guy. Dont know what he ran or how he tested, but Tautu is a true fast ball coming off the edge, up the middle, or looping on a stunt. Trust me, his entire game is all about pass rush & making plays behind the LOS. I think Tautu has James Harrison-type game. I think he has a legit chance at making the final roster on his ability to pressure & pass rush. Excellent pick up for us!

6'2" 238 lbs - sounds like an OLB. Seen his name before, but didn't know much about him. Very productive, very athletic. I like it! Some excitement in UDFA at last.

Tautu recorded 100 tackles, 21.5 tackles for loss, 10 sacks, three pass deflections, and a forced fumble in 30 games at BYU.

Tautu is an explosive edge rusher with the ability to cause disruption in his opponents’ backfields. He is a very aggressive player, which got the best of him on a couple occasions, picking up a few suspensions from targeting penalties. Tautu might be the most underrated NFL prospect out of BYU this year, especially given the value that NFL team’s put on quality edge rushers these day.

Here’s Tautu’s Pro Day numbers:

40-yard dash - 4.55 seconds
225 bench - 19 reps
Vertical jump - 38.5 inches
Broad jump - 10-foot-6
20-yard shuttle - 4.41 seconds
60-yard shuttle - 11.60 seconds
3-cone drill - 6.92 seconds

Here he is against Michigan St. He's number 31.

Ya, I remember Sae Tautu from watching Kai Nacua and Bronson Kaufusi from 15-16. Not surprised at all that he ran that fast. Tautu wasnt the starter, but was the most effective pass rusher/pressure player BYU had. It seemed like every time Tautu was in the game, he either made the play or affected it w/his pressure.

Tautu's explosion and 1st step off the snap are as good as anyone's I've seen this year. Weird how Nacua and Tautu were totally excluded from the draft process. BYU isnt some small school no name program. Nacua and Tautu, and even Harvey Langi for that matter, were all ballers. I think Tautu is an excellent UDFA pick up. I personally think he's the best of the bunch. He reminds me a lot of James Harrison. Tautu has for real zombie-edge rusher potential. Given the success of UDFAs like Galete and Edebali, I think Tautu has a legit chance to make the team as a pass rush specialist.

Thanks for the info guys. This is encouraging. That sub 7 three cone at 240 is a great number to see. I wish we could have grabbed LB Eric Wilson, but Tautu has the traits we need also.

Tautu has a real shot to make the team, I think. Agree on Langi, I noticed him a number of times watching tape for Tautu. Langi went UDFA, signed with the Patriots. Same for Nacua, signed with the Browns.

Find it odd they haven't signed a tight end yet.
