2018 Prospects to Watch (1 Viewer)

Ya, I'm a big fan of Gentry, too. I think he's a big time sleeper. He came into his own this year and a made bunch of huge plays for Mich and Shea Patterson. This dude has some major upside that's begging for a coach like Sean Payton to unleash and harness. In my opinion, coming into the league, Jimmy Graham didnt have half of what Zach Gentry has now. And look what Payton did w/him. Gentry's athletic traits are very similar to Jimmy's. I think Gentry has better hands and is clearly a better blocker, though.

Didnt put it in my original post. But watching him go up and get the ball whether it's high point, either back shoulder, in traffic, or just being a seam buster. I dont have anybody else that I can compare him to other than a young JG.

My favorite TEs in this cycle, that could be their with our first pick, are Gentry and Sternberger. Of the two, I think I'd prefer Gentry.

Isaac Nauta from UGA and Andy Isabella the UMASS slot wide receiver would probably be the two quickest contributors available to the Saints. UGA Wideout/return specialist Mecole Hardman Jr. would also potentially solve two issues with one pick. Also, Alize Mack the tight end from Notre Dame deserves a look, as he's crazy athletic, and Donald Parham, TE, Stetson is just a monster of a man.

I like both Isabella and Nauta a lot, and would be happy with the pick, but I'm thinking there will be an even better receiving option on the board when the Saints are on the clock in round 2. Not sure who slips, but someone like Deebo Samuel would be awesome.

I don't think there is a better "fit" for what this offense was lacking to end the season that Isabella. Including 1st round prospects. If you want to see a clinic on how to play slot receiver, go watch him against the Bulldawgs this past season. 15 catches for 219 yards and 2 TDs, the most yards ever allowed in Stanford Stadium history.

“What a player. I mean, he did a phenomenal job,” the Bulldogs’ Jake Fromm said. “It didn’t matter who we put on him, he was finding a way to get separation and get open. I don’t know if he dropped a ball. I don’t know if anybody else caught a ball. But he did awesome. It seemed like every time they threw it there he was again catching it. Man, great player, really exciting, really fun to watch.”

I'm a fan, but I'd take Deebo over Andy any day. Deebo would almost be like if Kamara was a full time WR. Golden Tate is probably the most common comparison for him.

While we're at it, JJ Arcega-Whiteside is another WR I'd take over Isabella if he falls to our pick. He's a different type receiver, but could be a Cooper Kupp type from the slot. I've actually seen some compare him to Mike Evans.

Possibly, but their comparison against similar opponents (UGA and Coastal Carolina) shows a clear advantage for Isabella. I'd be fine with either, but I just have this hunch that Isabella ends up being a quicker offensive contributor, and therefore more valuable to me in terms of next year's contention window. Even over Hardman, who has a crazy high ceiling.

I like Deebo and Andy Isabella. Would prefer Deebo, though, out of the two. But we'd have to either move up, or hope he falls and draft him in RD 2 if were looking at him as our guy. Same goes for Isabella, we'd prob have to be in the 3rd-4th to get him. On that note, a budding slot WR that I watched this year was John Ursua from Hawaii. That guy was clutch all year for them. He has a lot of the same traits as Isabella, size, speed, and play style. Ursua is on the smaller side and played in Hawaii's relentless pass heavy O, but he def has the hands, is pretty twitched up and has a knack for getting open quickly. When we're talking day 3 slot WRs, John Ursua is my dude all the way. Kind of shocked he didnt get an invite to the combine. Ursua reminds me of a twitched up version of Doug Baldwin.

PFF loves Isabella but I am not nearly as sold on him. I watched a few of his games and he takes way too many hard shots at that level of competition. The smaller guys in his mold that make it usually have quite a bit of bulk and are able to avoid direct contact. He also offers very little as a blocker in the slot, which the Saints really need in this offense. Maybe I’m wrong and his route running prevails, but I’d be nervous about him. I think he’s probably a 5th round or later guy.

AJ Brown is the best fit in this offense in the class. Obviously it’s asking a ton for him to drop to NO late in round 2, but he’s the best possible option in terms of the WRs in this class, in my opinion. Outside of Brown, I really like Kelvin Harmon in round 2.
