We continue our breakdown of the Saints 90-man training camp roster and a player by player examination of the running backs group with a look at fullback Zach Line.

The 2019 Season will be Zach Line‘s seventh in the NFL and his third with the New Orleans Saints. Line has primarily been used as a blocking fullback. When Sean Payton came to the Big Easy in 2006, there was already an excellent fullback in place, Mike Karney, who had been with the team since 2004. What Line does is a far cry from what fullbacks used to do in a Sean Payton offense.

The running backs group is the third installment in our rundown of all of the players to make up the 90-man roster which the Saints will take into training camp. We’ve started with the wide receivers, then the tight ends and now the running backs. It’s a relatively small group consisting of Alvin Kamara, Latavius Murray, Dwayne Washington, Devine Ozigbo, A.J. Ouellette and fullbacks Zach Line and Michael Burton.

The 53-man roster will only consist of four players though, three running backs and a fullback. We started our breakdown of the group with Alvin Kamara followed by the likely number two, Latavius Murray, last year’s number three, Dwayne Washington then this year’s rookies, Devine Ozigbo and A.J. Ouellette. One fullback out of the two in camp will, in all likelihood, be kept on the 53-man roster. We start with our profile of the incumbent, Zach Line.
