The New Orleans Saints exited the 2019 NFL Draft to find themselves in an unusual position: counting each of their draft picks, they will have just 66 players under contract. So while they will need to sign a large number of undrafted rookies to meet the 90-man summer roster maximum, they will probably struggle to recruit top options because they have so few spots available on the projected opening-day roster.

WR Emmanuel Butler, Northern Arizona. Per Richard Obert of the Arizona Republic. Butler (6-foot-4, 220 pounds) is the school’s record-holder in touchdown catches (33) and receiving yards (3,217). Hes an impressive small-school prospect.

DE Porter Gustin, USC. Per Josh Katzenstein of the Times-Picayune. Gustin was productive when he was one field, recording 33 tackles for loss and 21.5 sacks in 34 career games for the Trojans. He’ll need to overcome toe and ankle injuries that limited his opportunities the last two years to make the team in New Orleans.

RG Mike Herndon, Pittsburgh. Per Pittsburgh head coach Pat Narduzzi’s official Twitter account. Herndon was an important piece of the Panthers running game in 2018, paving the way for teammates in some big moments. He’s also played defensive tackle in the past. ...
