So 6 games in. 5 of those games the other team has tied or set their season record for the lowest amount of penalties committed. Just a coincidence I suppose. /s
Last year I did a similar penalty stat analysis. After week two (when the league stopped calling offensive holding every other series), out of 9 teams, every team was well below their season average when playing the Saints, and 5 of those teams it was their season low (and one of those teams was top 5 in penalty yards up to that point).

Amazing how every team suddenly doesn’t get penalties the week they play the Saints. Then goes back to their expected average afterward.

In the last game against Carolina I counted at least three facemasks that were not called and that is what I saw on the replays.
Amazing thing about that is that it's the guy with the ball (center of attention) and it wasn't called. I could see missing a facemask penalty when it happens away from the play but when the ball carrier has his facemask pulled that's not missing it that's ignoring it.

This is wild.
Yeah I would say in all of the stats where the opposing team's penalty count was drastically down when they played us...if we went back and counted the blatant flags that SHOULD have been called (e.g. the 2 facemasks on Kamara last week and the bogus illegal block call on Smith) then their numbers would be more on par with what they usually get called for. Panthers would have had 4 last week.

Statistically, this isn't coincidental.

I'm just saying.

As everyone knows, this goes back years. I seem to recall that Saint J did a really detailed analysis of the "opponents called against" a few years back on his blog. It sure would be nice if a national writer would pick this story up with the statistics but I think even Florio would be afraid to touch this one.

I would be happy to include links to those threads for quick reference/further analysis.

I was just watching it yesterday. Also, on the Cook touchdown pass, Cook took a hand to the face and was getting mauled about 5 feet from an official who was staring right at him.
