2020 signings will be brutal... (1 Viewer)

That has to be the largest contract for anyone not named Brees or Bush that we will have paid on Offense.
And why we need to develop middle to late round or UDFA receivers to keep the WR overall cap hit down so MT can get paid. We actually need TQS and Kirkwood to develop and not cast them aside like some want to do because they didn't instantly develop in their rookie season.

Unger will be extended this offseason and help lower his $8M cap charge this year.

Apples fifth year option will NOT be exercised

And we’re currently $100M under the 2020 cap.

We’re gonna be fine!!!
Once all the new contracts come in, will likely be closer to $70 -$80 million with no QBs under contract and Thomas, Apple, Rankins, Unger and Bell due for contracts. That cushion will disappear pretty quickly.

Just looking at next year and wow...if we don't sign, we will lose big players or we will need some top draft choices. Salary cap hell on the horizon....some we can let go, but big names on there expecting a big paycheck.

How does 2021 look?

The renegotiation of the CBA is gonna play hell w/contracts over the next 2 years(even w/out a holdout/lockout).

We have not even played the 2019 season yet.

First thing is first!

How does 2021 look?

Some big pay days coming, but might be ok. All depends on Brees and MT contract the previous year. Maybe sign 8 of those in the list. Eli Apple would probably get a deal 2020 so his name would come off.113010
