2021 Tight end discussion. Draft two TEs? (2 Viewers)

Both Shaun Beyer and Zach Davidson amazed at the 2021 College Football showcase this year.

The saints met with both.

Beyer looks extremely fast.

Travis Kelce fast.

Shaun Beyer, Iowa

In a solid overall group, these two tight ends truly stood out. Shaun Beyer came in with ideal measurements for a tight end (6050, 249, 9.75” hands, 33” arms) and was interviewing with teams late into the evening. Beyer’s fluidity during on-field drills, however, was truly special. His suddenness and smoothness in his route running were incredible, and he displayed consistent hands. As an Iowa tight end, Beyer also met and even exceeded expectations in the blocking drills.

Zach Davidson, Central Missouri

If you followed along with the Brawl Network during our time at the College Gridiron Showcase, you know that Zach Davidson was one of our favorite players at the event. His measurements were excellent (6065, 248, 9.5” hands, 32” arms). He also interviewed with nearly every team at the event. But Davidson performed incredibly well in the drills. He looked like the most athletic tight end at the event and caught everything thrown his way. He hustled back to the group after every rep and stayed to work with the wide receivers after all the other tight ends left. Davidson also got pulled aside by a New York Jets scout to talk more after the drills. Of all the players at CGS, Davidson arguably helped himself more than anyone.

The draft looks pretty solid now at receiving TE behind Pitts.

Pure speed at pro days and the combine will separate the good ones from the great.

250lb+ TEs who run in the 4.5-6 range TEs will get the highest grades but still might go mid round like Kittle or Dawson Knox.

I would guess that Morris, Beyer, and Davidson might fall into this category.

Long, Angeline, and Bushman, look like ideal big receiving types.

Seems like TE is the deepest position in this draft. Sean's going to have a vision for one of these guys. I see a lot of 2 tight end sets in our future. Callaway will step up, be our #2 WR, and run all of the Colston routes.

Few other TE's you might want to look at.
Zaire Mitchell

Todd Summers
