So Dr. Z this week in his mailbag has a poem from a Giants fan praising them for their Superbowl XLII victory. It sounds kinda like 2884 might have written it, so I was wondering, 2884, if you might be a secret Giants fan.

"You are the ones
The Gods of the field, unbesmirched by the ground
The living legends, favored by the crown
Relentless pursuit and prodigious fate
In happy circumstances do meet ..."

Dr. Z didn't include the rest, but it kinda had 2884's style, so I thought maybe....

I certainly wish it was, Tulsa. But no it wasn't me, I do read Dr. Z from time to time though. You bring up a point you know though, it does sound like me writing a poem and how I would write it. I think some writers can sound the same in the way they do write. Its funny because the styles can seem so much like the same.

I wished it was me now that you say it, it would have been nice to be included in a syndicated column like Paul Zimmerman's one, even though I disagree with him on Rickey Jackson belonging in the HOF. His answer Tulsa on that issue was lets say a bit insulting to Saints fans like me and you. It did not endear me to him quite honestly

Yeah, well, I have never felt the national press have given enough respect to Saints players. I mean, if Andre Tippet is in the hall of fame, Rickey Jackson should absolutely be too.

If the Saints make the Superbowl this coming year, maybe you should compose a poem and send it to Dr. Z, eh?

What did Dr. Z say about Jackson? Everything I've read about Jackson from Dr. Z has been pretty positive:

"J.P. of Monroe, La., wonders why the name of Rickey Jackson, his choice of greatest New Orleans Saint ever, never gets mentioned for the Hall of Fame. For a while Jackson was on the preliminary list, but I don't think he ever made it to the final 15 ... maybe once, but I'm not sure. My personal choice for greatest Saint is Sam Mills, and I'm pushing very hard for his enshrinement. If and when he makes it, I'll worry about Jackson. I gave the Flaming Redhead your love, as requested. She says to send gumbo instead."

"J.P. from New Orleans makes an impassioned plea for OLB/rush specialist Rickey Jackson of the Saints. The trouble is that he's coming up against a mob of sackers, primarily Kevin Greene, the No. 3 man of all time, Chris Doleman, the No .4, and Richard Dent, the No. 5. Jackson is at No. 9, and although I share your feeling that he was a decent run-stopper as well, it will be the sacks by which he'll be measured."

"3) "Do you think ex-Saints LB Rickey Jackson will ever get into the Hall of Fame?" A Louisiana fan asks about a Saints player. That's the real one, right Billy Boy? I thought so. I class Jackson among the second echelon rush linebackers. In the first echelon is Derrick Thomas, a finalist last year. Ranking alongside Jackson is Andre Tippett. But if you want to rank him with the pure pass rushers, he doesn't measure up to Richard Dent. And if you want to place him alongside the pure OLB's, I'd give Chuck Howley the nod over him. Does that mean he's undeserving and will never make it? No. He was a great player. In a year in which the competition is not that tough, I'd vote for him, and he could sneak in as a dark horse candidate."
