I have been waiting for us to change our scheme defensively for a while now. My main reason for wanting the change was so Drew could practice against it everyday. Whenever we played teams like the Ravens,49ers, etc who run 3-4. Drew always seemed to have problems with them. At least now he will adapt and shred them all next year.

In the sense that a 3-4 should get more pressure upfront and cause more turnovers, yes, it will help us.

Will it help us in practice? It can't hurt I guess.

Losses this year:

Washington 3-4
Kansas City 3-4
Green Bay 3-4
Denver 3-4 (hybrid of some sort I think)
San Fran 3-4
Atlanta (tried to run a 3-4 under Nolan)

Giants 4-3
Carolina 4-3 (but they know how we play)

(close win b/c penalty) San Diego 3-4

It's not a coincidence that our losses are to 3-4 teams this year cause that's how it's been in the past as well. The switch to 3-4 is a great move on many other levels even disregarding our personnel fit. It should've happened sooner which is evident by how easily we will transition with the pieces we have.
